Hooray! Hooray!

I feel like a character out of a childrens book saying this but...My favourite red shoes have returned! now completely fixed and redder and shinier than ever. I'm not joking - they got a full five star treatment (it cost almost as much as buying them in the first place - but they are worth it, my wardrobe is nothing without them). So that was rather exciting.

Apart from that the most exciting thing that has happened to me recently has been 20 naked guys running through my global politics lecture wearing pirate hats - staging a melee out the front, then singing "What do you do with a drunken sailor" and running out again. Prompting a spontaneous round of applause from all the students - and the rather shocked lecturer. Which is, i must admit, a rather good highlight of the week. I'm afraid I have no photos to accompany this event... so you will have to rely on imagination alone.

So, anyway... I am continuing with my photo blogs. Why? Because i like photos and it's my blog. Alors, without furthur ado I present... some more random photos from france (Paris), then some photos from our trip to sydney with Enzo (hello Enzo - if you are reading this!).

One of my favourite things about Paris is the lamp posts. I even bought a mini lamp post (about the size of a matchstick) in montpellier from the Santon shop. The lady thought I was crazy - buying this one tiny lamp post and nothing else - but I was poor by that stage.

This is my model photo in Paris of emma and laura - note lamp post playing a vital role in the background. I love this photo - it is such an on the spot thing - and for once emma's smile doesn't look forced (sorry emma).

I took this inside Shakespeare and Co, a famous old bookshop on the left bank in Paris. This is the place that first published Ulysses.. and I bought a second hand copy of it from there, which I am still trying to read. The lady at the counter wished me good luck when I bought it - i begin to see why... But I love this quote written inside the shop.

And this is a random rambling sign outside the shop... if you can make any sense of it you are a better person than I.

A wall of masks in a shop in Paris, arn't they beautiful?! - I would have loved to buy one but I was very poor and they were very expensive - I shall have to wait until I go to Venice (where they will probably be even more expensive!)

A typical carousel in Paris- i've always adored carousels - i think because they remind me of mary poppins and riding the carousel horses - my favourite part of the film.

And now for something completely different - enzo's holiday in sydney...

Me and Dad on Manly beach in sydney (i'm the one comatose next to dad - i was trying to not get sunburnt (photo courtesy of emma)

Me, emma and enzo in a reflection at the opera house (photo courtesy of enzo)

i love this sign - so completely random and the o's look like eyes.

Some strange angles at the Opera house in sydney

and a very loving coffee from our favourite restaurant in sydney (can't remember what it's called - but it has the most glorious chocolate and strawberry pizza!)
